Hi,

The dimensions originally used for the pentagonal prisms model that you have attempted were 1 1/2" by 2 1/4" (for the short units) and 1 1/2" by 5 1/2 (for the long units). I perhaps should have included this note in my diagrams. I'm sorry you had to go through two attempts! Hope this helps.

You can also try folding this related model: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8303956@N08/4350088410/
This one is much more convenient because it uses only strips of 1x5. Also, I personally prefer the aesthetics of this newer model. The model is designed to have all edges the same length, so you must adjust the folding method for the ends of the previously-long units to consume slightly less paper.

On a side-note, I haven't really lost interest in modulars. If something inspires me or I get an idea in my head, I will not hesitate to give it a shot! =)

Daniel,
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog and adding such helpful tips! I look forward to folding again with the same dimensions you used. I also agree that the second model looks a lot more fun. Thanks again :)

By the way, I'm glad to hear that you haven't lost interest in modulars; forgive me for implying you had. Thank you again for your input, it made my day :)

These look a lot like the origami that I tackled after you taught me how to do it. Ahh the memories...

Jeff,
I remember that; those were good memories! To date, I still haven't seen a bigger paper strip star :)
